A Few Facts About Girls on the Run of the Grand Valley:
- Our local programs began
in the fall of 2000. Our number of participants has increased from 125
in our first year to more than 300 participants during the 2002-03 school
year. In the fall of 2003, GOTR of the Grand Valley had the fifth
largest program in the country.
- We conduct programs at different
elementary schools and parks each fall and spring, in order to include
as many girls each year as possible. (See our Schedule.)
- Our coaches are very well-trained
and enthusiastic women who volunteer their time to the program because
they believe in its ability to positively affect the lives of these
young girls! (To volunteer, go to our Ways to Help
page.)
- We have many generous sponsors
within the Grand Valley community and beyond, which allow us to keep
the cost to the participants very low (just $15 per 9-week session!),
thus enabling all girls with a desire to participate a chance to do
so. (To become a sponsor, go to our Ways to Help
page. To learn more about our current sponsors, go to our Home
page.)
